I always felt like the black sheep compared to those around me. Growing up I would be moved, disturbed, or irritated with something, while my family and friends remained indifferent. I am a very passionate person, so it was hard for me to understand why others were not feeling what I was feeling, causing me to appear self-righteous and neurotic. The biggest problem I face as a sensitive person is that I often feel misunderstood and isolated.

I cannot share my feelings with others, out of fear of embarrassment. I am happy I found this site so that I can connect with others like myself.

Dear Kay,
You took the words right out of my mouth! I am exactly the same way, and not that I would wish this upon anyone else, it helps so much to know that there are others like me. I sometimes feel like I'm from another planet because of being so different from everyone I know personally, and I am looking forward to having someone to talk with about HSP who understands what it is like to be this way. I'm tired of feeling so alone and misunderstood, and here we won't have to feel that way. Good luck to you and to all of us here.
